Chess Magnet School Makes Learning Fun and Easier:

Two links to the Chess Magnet School (CMS) allow us to make chess more accessible to all of our students and their families.  Check out the interactive way to learn chess by using the links on our home page or Students I & II pages.  Scholastic and Saturday Morning Chess Club (SMCC) students may sign up for inter-active intermediate and advanced instruction in our CMS classes by using our passwords (see  the Student I & II pages for the passwords).  Non members, family members, friends and others who wish to sign up should contact Coach Omar to see which class section to sign up in.  (1/12/08)

We are looking for an architect

We are looking for recommendations of a good architect to design an addition to a home. If you know and can recommend a person please call 301 330 8243.

Center Seeks Volunteers and Paid Associates:

We are looking for individuals who would be interested in a position as a volunteer or paid aide or teacher/coach for scholastic chess programs, mornings and afternoons.  Chess experience is NOT a requirement if you are willing to learn.  Teaching experience or other work with children is a definite plus.  If you are interested, e-mail us for an application or look under memberships.

Scholastic Links Now Active:

Students wishing to ensure timely registration in our school programs may use our on-line links to print forms.  Most programs allow you to send us the forms directly, but a few require that you send the forms to the school or parent/PTA coordinator at the school.  Please double check before making out your check to us. (08/29/07)

New Link Allows Tournament Players To Check Standings:

Players in the seasonal ladder tournaments, held at Lakeforest Mall, may now check their current standings with a special link on the "Events" page.  The link may be found in the dark blue, left side border, just below the "Tournament Basics..." link.  We will try to update this feature on a weekly basis.  Players may see their current rank on the ladder, as well as their win/loss/draw record and date of last attendance.
